Description - Diet of Ski Jumpers

During the competition a ski jumpers have a relatively low energy demand. A ski jumpers must maintain a low body weight according to their height so they use a diet with a reduced energy value. They need to select appropriate products, so that the diet will supply the most important nutrients and will be low- calorie. Those products must allow the body and muscle regeneration and prevent the change of a body weight.

A ski jumpers diet eliminate fat, (they consume only a very small amount of vegetable fat). They eat lean meats like: beef, veal, poultry and pork loin. Also the other products like: milk, dairy products and eggs. They need to limit the intake of carbohydrates and from the cereal products they choose only untreated cereals like: wholemeal bread, brown rice and wholemeal pasta. They use diet rich in vegetables, but they reduce the consumption of fruit, after the period of the competition. They eat fruits during competition, because they contain a lot of energy.


In Poland is the anecdote about favourite Adam Małysz thing which is ,, a bun with banana ''.

A ski jumper, Simon Ammann loves eating noodles topped with cracklings, but the coach let him eat it only when he win the competition.

  1. Poor people, they can't eat anything. I always loved to watch ski-jumping but never tried. Didn't know how hard of a diet they had but that is the life of every sport player.
