Description - Diet of Ski Jumpers

During the competition a ski jumpers have a relatively low energy demand. A ski jumpers must maintain a low body weight according to their height so they use a diet with a reduced energy value. They need to select appropriate products, so that the diet will supply the most important nutrients and will be low- calorie. Those products must allow the body and muscle regeneration and prevent the change of a body weight.

A ski jumpers diet eliminate fat, (they consume only a very small amount of vegetable fat). They eat lean meats like: beef, veal, poultry and pork loin. Also the other products like: milk, dairy products and eggs. They need to limit the intake of carbohydrates and from the cereal products they choose only untreated cereals like: wholemeal bread, brown rice and wholemeal pasta. They use diet rich in vegetables, but they reduce the consumption of fruit, after the period of the competition. They eat fruits during competition, because they contain a lot of energy.

In Poland is the anecdote about favourite Adam Małysz thing which is ,, a bun with banana ''.

A ski jumper, Simon Ammann loves eating noodles topped with cracklings, but the coach let him eat it only when he win the competition.

Interview with Alexander Stöckl

I have been interviewing  Alexander Stöckl who is a coach of Norwegian national team in ski jumping from 23 of March 2011.
He was born in Austria in St. Johann in Tirol and he was also a ski jumper. The biggest his achievments were in the season 1992/1993.

Ula Siemakowicz : How did it happen that in the season 2014/2015 Norwegian team gained bigger team success than in previous years with more experienced players?

Alexander Stöckl : We had more focus on the quality of the daily training in the summer before that season. We also worked quite much with equipment to be adapt everything to a very individual level. Our athletes were better prepared physically, technically and mentally.

Do you think that Rune Velta can regain back the form form the season 2014/2015 and again compete for winning the winter Ski Jumping World Cup, during the next winter season?

Alexander Stöckl : hope so. The last season was not good for Rune but he says he learned a lot. It was a challenge for him to handle the big success from the last World Championships. He gained a much higher status and that was difficult for him to handle. With more experience on this subject and a high motivation I think he has good chances to get back to his top performance level again.

What do you think about the organization by Norway, the turnament similar to the Four Hills Turnament during the next winter season?

Alexander Stöckl : think this will be something really special. Many parties are involved in building this product to something outstanding. The international ski federation is giving us a big opportunity and I hope we manage to do our best to take out the full potensial. This series means a lot to the Ski Federation and to the norwegian ski jumping family.

Looking for the Noriaki Kasai , how long a Ski Jumper can take part in the professional  Ski Jumping and where is the limit of human resistance?

Alexander Stöckl : Kasai is an exceptional athlete you will not find many jumpers in the future that can work on that level over such a long time. Usually athletes quit jumping around the mid thirties.

Who might you include from Polish national team to your own team and why?

Alexander Stöckl : I am not sure if I understand the question, but it would be interesting to work with Kamil Stoch. He is an olympic champion and I think we could learn a lot from him.
